KCK Urban Ministry
In February of 2010 a few folks at Trinity started to ask questions. Questions about consumerism and need. Questions about wealth and poverty. Questions about love, service, and sacrifice. Questions about what it means to follow Jesus, or put another way, questions about what it means to take him seriously.
Those questions and the ensuing dream, led a few of us to make a move. A move to a different part of town, where we would live a different sort of way. We decided to move in together and share a common life. We decided to learn the way of Jesus together as we read the Good News and live like it makes make a difference. We decided to open our doors up to those who need a warm place to stay, our fridge to those who are hungry.
We live and move and have our being in Jesus, who calls us to a radical way of love and service. He leads us to continue asking hard questions. Questions that I cannot pretend to answer, but questions that always lead me back to him.
The way of Jesus is the way of full and abundant life. It might not always look like abundant life (carrying a cross has never been appealing) but we take hope in one thing, that Jesus and his way of suffering love were shown to be the way of true life that first Easter morning. God is doing a new thing in the world, it looks like Jesus, and it happens through his people. We all get to be a part of it.
Feel free to join us, for an afternoon, a weekend, a week... or just move in.
Peace in Jesus and his way,
Scott
