Methods of Giving

Stewardship is way of life that recognizes everything we have is given to us by God, and we are managing those resources while here on earth.

Your financial contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church support:
  • Six quality worship services weekly
  • Adult Bible Study programming and development
  • Youth and Children’s programming and development
  • Touching the lives of our members, encouraging our members to become and live as Christ-like disciples
  • Missions within the Kansas City metropolitan area and throughout the world
  • The physical building and utilities necessary to support our ministry activities

Thank you for your prayers and financial support of Trinity Lutheran Church!

Stewardship is a responsibility to take care of something owned by someone else. This includes not only our financial resources, but also our time and our very lives. Therefore, we also encourage you to volunteer your talents and time as we use the gifts God has given each of us for the growth of His kingdom. See the Faith in Action and  Serving at Trinity pages for more information about how you can get involved!

Methods of Giving

Cash and Check
At any time you may give to Trinity via cash or check. Members are assigned an offering envelope number and receive offering envelopes in the mail each month that help Trinity record and account for cash and check contributions. Each quarter Trinity members receive a summary of their giving, which can be used for income tax deductions. Simply place your gift in the offering envelope and drop it in the offering plate on Sunday or mail it to the church. If you are giving to multiple Trinity funds, please designate on your check and/or envelope the amount given to each Fund.

Simply Giving

By filling out a Simply Giving Authorization form, you can set-up a regular, recurring gift to the church that is a direct debit from your checking or savings account. You may set up this debit to occur weekly, monthly or semi-monthly. Simply Giving is safe, secure, and convenient. Consider some advantages of using the Simply Giving option:
  • No forgetting to write a check or lost checks
  • Scheduled automatic delivery of your gift to Trinity, even when you are traveling or unable to attend worship
  • One less activity to perform on Sunday morning
  • Allows giving to multiple funds with a single transaction
  • Scheduled, consistent online giving provides a consistent cash flow for Trinity to pay for ministry activities every month.
Pick up an authorization form in the church office, or download the Simply Giving form, fill it out and return it to the church office.

e-Giving

You can now give to Trinity electronically through our secure e-Giving option. You can either give a one-time gift or set-up a giving profile, which will save your giving information to make regular giving easy. With e-Giving, you can set up regular recurring gifts, one time gifts, or a combination of both. Click "Give Now" to set up your profile and begin giving electronically today!

Online Banking Payment Feature
Most banks offer an online bill-payment feature that is simple and easy to use. If you are using this feature with your bank today, you can also us it for your weekly or monthly gifts to Trinity. Use the following information and format to set up Trinity as a payee:

Trinity Lutheran Church
5601 W 62nd Street
Mission, KS, 66202
For the Account Number, please use the following format:
General Fund:                 [your envelope #]-General   (ex. 1234-General)
Capital Campaign:           [your envelope #]-Capital    (ex. 1234-Capital)
Please contact the church office if you need to know your offering envelope number to set-up an online contribution to Trinity.
**Please note: Most bank payment features are not set up to pay to multiple accounts within a single payee. If you give to multiple Trinity funds, you may need to set up Trinity as a payee for each fund to which you contribute. (Giving to multiple Trinity funds may be easier with the e-Giving option - see above for details)

 Frequently Asked Questions

Is it safe to give online?
Yes. In many ways giving online is safer than writing a check because an electronic gift cannot be lost or stolen. Trinity's service provider employs top industry standards to protect and secure account information.

Can I make a one-time contribution electronically?
Yes. e-Giving and online banking payment features allow you the option of either making a one-time gift or setting up a recurring contribution to be paid from your bank account on the date(s) specified by you.

Can I change the amount or the frequency of my gifts once I have set it up?
Yes. If you set up a recurring gift through e-Giving, you can change it at any time. If you have enrolled in Simply Giving using the form option, you will need to submit a new Simply Giving form to make changes to your recurring gift.

Can I review my donation history online?
If you use the e-Giving option, you will be able to view your history of giving through the e-Giving service. If you make cash or check contributions in addition to e-Giving, these gifts will not report with your e-Giving activity. Your quarterly giving statement will reflect e-Giving, Simply Giving and cash and check contributions.

Will I receive regular contribution statements from the church?
Yes. Trinity will continue to provide quarterly and year-end contribution statements. These statements will report all gifts, regardless of the giving method. (Note: Cash gifts that are not given in an offering envelope cannot be recorded and reflected in giving statements.)

Can I designate my gift for a particular use?
Yes. You may designate your gift toward the general or capital campaign funds. We may also add funds throughout the year for special giving purposes.

Does it matter which Internet browser I use?
No. Any browser will work.

What type of bank accounts can I give from?
e-Giving and Simply Giving allow you to set up contributions from a checking or savings account only.

I have additional questions about online giving that have not been addressed. Who can I talk to?
For any questions, concerns or comments about Trinity’s method of giving options, please contact the church office (913-432-5441 or
tlcinfo@tlcms.org).
